Accessing Arizona's Arts.
Welcome to the Mission page for ARTability. We are an Arizona-based group that specializes in making the art world accessible to wheelchair users and individuals with loss of vision and/or hearing. ARTability currently serves 640 arts organizations and over 289,000 members of the disability community statewide.
Among our many services, ARTability plans and promotes accessible art events, provides technical information to make art facilities more accommodating for those with special needs, develops mutually beneficial partnerships in the art community and holds customer service training sessions. Our education events (free to members of ARTability) have helped ASL interpreters and audio describers communicate more effectively. We have also educated Support Service Providers (SSP), individuals who share their sense of sight/hearing to provide context for daily activities and help those with disabilities to make informed decisions about their surroundings.
ARTability is committed to changing the interaction between art groups and members of the disability community. You, the reader, may stay updated with new developments by reading our quarterly newsletter, attending ARTability meetings and checking out our events calendar. ARTability celebrates both disabled artists and patrons of the art and we hope you can attend some of our special events. We thank you for your support.
